Each plant is hyper-linked to show you what a plant should look like, or what it can do throughout the year. This is not were I would purchase the plant or the price, just a representation. I am excited to hear your thoughts\/feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We could either transplant the sky pencil hollies where the arborvitaes are\/were (Bertha,) or put them framing your windows in the back. If we transplant them in the back here are our options for height:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mrmaple.com\/products\/buy-ligustrum-japonicum-rotundifolium-dwarf-curly-leaf-japanese-privet\">Ligustrum Rotundifolia<\/a> &#8212; This is also a love\/hate plant for me. Most nursery staff love it for its ability to substitute for the sky pencil. Has really neat leaves, and puts out white, fragrant flowers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the backrow of ligustrums don&#8217;t pull through: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adcocksnursery.com\/plants_details\/plant\/2406543\/7g-Distylium-First-Editions%C2%AE-Coppertone%E2%84%A2\">Coppertone Distylium<\/a> &#8212; The new growth has a copper coloration on the leaves, and it fringes red flowers down the branches in the fall. We could then put the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tnnursery.net\/products\/green-velvet-boxwood-1-qt?adgroupid=&amp;campaignid=19510264444&amp;creative=&amp;device=c&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiAuOieBhAIEiwAgjCvcicFrR9LZeHv5zAWYMNTxtRVUL7zYQ0zJIqcjhoLgRF-DCrC9Az6ZhoChF0QAvD_BwE&amp;keyword=&amp;matchtype=&amp;network=x&amp;setCurrencyId=1&amp;sku=032231-7\">Green Velvet Boxwood<\/a> in front&#8230;&#8230;. check out this project I completed a few years ago&#8211; same look just spaced farther apart:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ashleybristowdesigns.com\/?p=455\">https:\/\/ashleybristowdesigns.com\/?p=455<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gardengoodsdirect.com\/products\/otto-luyken-cherry-laurel\">Otto Luyken Cherry Laurel<\/a> &#8212; these also put out white, fragrant flowers. The coppertone distylium has become its replacement in most landscapes, but it is still an old, hardy favorite. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gardengoodsdirect.com\/products\/hoogendorn-holly-shrubs\">Hoogendorn Holly<\/a> &#8212; super easy to keep neat and rounded. The new growth has some red and lighter green variations. It doesn&#8217;t fruit, and has more of a rounded boxwood leaf.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/johnson-nursery.com\/ilex-compacta-japanese-holly\/\">Compacta Holly<\/a> &#8212; same easy maintenance as the hoogendorn. Both are being used as the boxwood substitute.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I talked with some nursery staff, and they said that the fluffy boxwoods that you are most likely drawn to are the ones that are getting the blight, which is why I did not include those. They said that they are not even allowed to have any boxwoods shipped from out west because that were is it being sourced. Now, if I can find the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monrovia.com\/chicagoland-green-boxwood.html\">Chicagoland Boxwood<\/a>, that may be our exception. We can buy it directly from Monrovia in a 3.6 gallon container, but wouldn&#8217;t have any idea of actual size above ground until arrival.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saundersbrothers.com\/plant\/Buxus-microphylla-Golden-Dream\">Golden Dream Boxwood<\/a> &#8212; as mentioned, these would go behind and replace the shrubs around the crape myrtle. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilsonbrosgardens.com\/buxus-microphylla-golden-triumph-dwarf-boxwood-1-gallon.html\">Golden Triumph<\/a> is a slightly larger version, but a little harder to find.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/firsteditionsplants.com\/product\/bananappeal-small-anise-tree\/\">Bananappeal Anise<\/a>. Bright, compact, and can take full shade.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilsonbrosgardens.com\/Flaming-Silver-Pieris-japonica.html\">Flaming Silver Pieris <\/a>  &#8212; can take full shade, new growth is bright pink.
