Gardener’s Toolbox

This is a work in progress, but I am creating a toolbox or medicine cabinet for your home garden. I have partnered with the Amazon Affiliate’s Program to provide links for each product that I personally use.

Bi-Yearly and Yearly Food

BioAdvantage 12 Month Tree & Shrub Protect & Feed

The beauty of this is only having to apply it once a year. It’s excellent for all your trees. It has an easy measuring system and includes the measuring cup.

Holly Tone

I usually put this on my evergreen shrubs twice a year. Make sure to wear gloves when putting this out. It is a granular mix that you apply to the base of your plants.

Plant Tone

This is a plant food that is best to put out twice a year on all your deciduous shrubs and perennials. Also a granular mixture, so it is best to wear gloves when applying to the base of your plants.

Medicine Cabinet

Bonide Captain Jack’s Neem Max

This is a 4-1 garden liquid that works like magic.

It also comes in a spray. I recommend applying every few days until you start seeing results, up to two weeks.

The biggest piece of knowledge when using this spray:

Make sure to ONLY apply in late afternoon once the sun is setting. Otherwise, the plant will scorch.

Fertilome Triple Action

Japanese Beetles bothering you? Use this! It can be applied at the base of the plant and soaks up through the roots. Thus, making solving pest solutions in larger specimens a breeze.

Fertiliome Tree & Shrub Drench

This is a great product to protect your larger specimens against insects. The roots of the plants absorb it, thus sending the medicine throughout the plant.

Dipel Dust

This product is great for vegetable garden pests. Sprinkle it where you are having trouble!

Secondary usages are for smothering ground wasps.

Advisory: you must wait until nightfall for all the bees/wasps to return into the hole before dumping the product into the hole. Also, usually they have an “in” AND a “out” hole. You have to dump a decent amount of dust into both holes.

Infuse Systemic Disease Control

This liquid mix is a great antibiotic for all plants. It is applied to the base of the plant, and absorbed through the roots. One application is good for up to four weeks.

Garden Tools

Root Slayer

Specifically THIS version. I have tried all the different versions, but this is my FAVORITE! You can jump on it seamlessly through clay and roots, or you can till the blade and use it like a saw.

The length of the staff is great, and the round handle allows you to have a better grip than the smaller “T” handle of the other versions.

This is the largest and widest of all the blade options. But be careful because it arrives extremely sharp.

Handheld Sickle

This is always in my “go garden bag.” This handheld tool is sharp enough that I slice through the roots of weeds with a breeze. Granted, you will have to be on the ground to use this tool, but it’s extremely effective.

Weed Grass Cutter

This is better for those needing to cut through thick weeds, or who have grasses creeping in. I swing it more like a low powerful golf swing. You will feel the ab workout the next day. These arrive sharp, but depending on the amount of use will dull out with persistent use. So the price point is good for me having to get a new one once a year.

Clearing Hook

I use this for weeding and cutting sod. This has been a go-to tool for me for years. It is one that I always have in the bag in my car. This tool is hard to find, but gold when you know how to use it.
