B&T–May 2021
Beginning Photos
These homeowners moved from a traditional style home to the new modern build. The house came with the builder’s stock plant list, and as you can see the front row is growing taller than the back. I assume there was a mixup during the install.
The back row was a slow growing holly variety, and the front row was a fast growing gardenia variety. The homeowners wanted to keep the plant material, and relocate it along the side of the house in beds that we would create. Additionally, we would create a driveway entry bed to add a little extra curb appeal.
Proposed Designs
We ended up going with Option 1 for the Front bed, but then combined elements for the driveway bed. To create the curves of the new driveway bed, we used a rope and spray paint to visualize it from all angles before removing the sod.
The Install
We simply had to remove the existing plant material and replace with new in the front bed. However, along the driveway we had to remove the sod, and create a new bed. We ended up having to build the bed up instead of down due to the amount of rocks beneath the initial level of dirt.
Completed Install
These photos are just a reflection of the front of the house, but in reality, we created new beds down both sides and back of the house. We were able to reuse all the plant material that was removed from the front, and add in additional shrubs and grasses to add to the modern look.
